Doctoral Theses

The TDX online server for PhD theses contains digital copies of theses defended at Catalan universities, as well as at other universities from different autonomous regions.

It enables remote access to view full copies of theses, in addition to searches by author, title, subject, university, etc. Viewing theses is free and no username or password is required.

The Project

The Technical Bureau of the Consortium of University Libraries of Catalonia (CBUC) coordinates the project, with a view to incorporating theses written and submitted electronically at Catalan universities and at other universities from different autonomous regions. It also aims to digitise certain theses from previous years during its early phase.

Objectives

  • Disseminate research results from the University of the Balearic Islands around the world, online
  • Provide authors with a tool to increase visibility and access to their work. In turn, this raises the likelihood of their being cited, establishing new contacts with researchers in the field, etc.
  • Incentivise the creation and dissemination of scientific production
  • Improve bibliographic control over theses.

Thesis Copyright

Copyright is protected in a publication agreement between the UIB and thesis authors. When theses are published in TDX, they are assigned an ISBN and a legal deposit number to ensure intellectual property.

Text integrity is ensured by the security features incorporated in the saved file format (.pdf).
